Cruz Roja pide pausa diaria de dos horas en la lucha en Siria

GINEBRA (AP) — El Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja solicitó el martes un cese de fuego diario de dos horas en Siria para poder entregar ayuda de emergencia y evacuar a los heridos y enfermos.

El presidente de la Cruz Roja, Jakob Kellenberger, dijo que la situación en Siria "requiere una decisión inmediata para imponer una pausa humanitaria en la lucha".

Kellenberger afirmó en un comunicado que en la acosada ciudad de Homs y en otros sitios de Siria "familias enteras se han quedado aisladas durante días en sus hogares, imposibilitadas de salir para conseguir pan, otros alimentos o agua, o para conseguir atención médica".

Las Naciones Unidas calculan que por lo menos 5.400 personas, en su mayoría civiles, han muerto en el levantamiento contra el presidente sirio Bashar Assad que comenzó hace 11 meses
