ONU autoriza aumento de la fuerza africana en Somalia


NACIONES UNIDAS (AP) — El Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU aprobó el miércoles por votación unánime incrementar la fuerza de la Unión Africana en Somalia de 12.000 a unos 17.000 efectivos y ampliar sus áreas de operación a fin de elevar la presión sobre los extremistas de al-Shabab.

La resolución adoptada por el órgano más poderoso de Naciones Unidas también ordena prohibir la exportación e importación de carbón somalí, que es una importante fuente de recursos para al-Shabab.

El Consejo adoptó la resolución la víspera de una conferencia sobre el país africano en Londres a realizarse el jueves, donde se espera que representantes de más de 40 gobiernos y de organizaciones internacionales adopten un nuevo enfoque internacional para hacer frente a los problemas de Somalia
